REMEMBERING RANDY

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I write this letter to all of you.

As many of you may have heard, my brother Randy Mantooth passed away on Thursday. His passing was peaceful, surrounded by family and friends.

I want you to know how deeply Randy was touched by every person who chose to follow and support the journey of Into the Unknown. Knowing that so many people believed in this project and wanted to help bring it to life meant more to him than words can express.

Please know that we remain committed to honoring his vision. We will move forward with the release of the film and fulfill everything we’ve promised—just as Randy would have wanted. We’ll be sending information about the release in the coming weeks.

Randy was passionate about telling the story of first responders. He believed their courage, sacrifice, and humanity deserved to be seen and remembered. That passion became a mission, taking all of us—me, Baxter, Steve, Tom, and so many others—on an unforgettable journey to help make that dream a reality.

As we find ourselves navigating this difficult time, we keep coming back to one simple question: What mattered most to Randy? The answer is easy…people. He treasured the relationships he built throughout his life, including those with the first responders he so deeply admired. More than anything, Randy believed that the connections we make and the lives we touch are what truly endure.

Randy Mantooth, wearing a dark blue t-shirt with a lighter blue colorFor those of us who knew Randy best, his greatest joy was bringing people together. He believed family wasn’t defined only by blood…some of his closest friends became his and my chosen family. Holiday traditions meant everything to him, and every gathering was another opportunity to tell a story that somehow became even better with each retelling. He loved making us laugh, and he had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like they belonged. Those evenings around the dinner table, the conversations around the firepit, and the laughter that always seemed to follow him are the memories we will cherish forever.

While our hearts are broken, we are also filled with gratitude—for the years we shared with Randy, for the friendships that enriched his life, and for the overwhelming love and support that have surrounded him and our family.

Thank you for loving my brother Randy, believing in his dream, and continuing this journey with us. We know he would be deeply grateful.

In Gratitude,
Tonya Mantooth

We’re also including a link to the podcast I recorded with Randy and Kevin. As I prepared for the interview, Randy told me it would be the first time the two of them had ever been interviewed together. It was an honor to capture a conversation reflecting their deep friendship and their work together on Emergency! You can click below to give it a listen:
